Tampd’s criteria for inclusion are informed by the Specialty Coffee Association’s (SCA) globally recognized principles of quality, sustainability, and integrity within the specialty coffee industry. To be listed, cafes must serve sustainably and ethically-sourced coffee, typically scoring 80+ on the SCA scale. Participating cafes are expected to uphold transparency in sourcing, sustainable and ethical practices across their supply chain, and fair treatment of employees through equitable wages, safe working conditions, and a respectful workplace culture. Baristas must show proficiency in latte art, as well as a knowledge of the coffee that they serve. Cafes listed on Tampd must showcase a commitment to consistency, education, and hospitality; reflecting care for everyone involved from seed to cup.
